Malian Leader Praises Putin’s "Sincerity"
As documented by a newspaper on Monday, Goita’s remarks followed a high-level meeting with Putin at the Kremlin, which concluded with the endorsement of various accords, including those focusing on economic collaboration and the peaceful utilization of nuclear energy.
“President Vladimir Putin is a pragmatic and sincere man. We have seen [it] through his gestures, all his openness,” Goita declared, emphasizing Putin's down-to-earth demeanor.
He also voiced gratitude for the hospitable welcome he received during his visit and underscored that Mali’s strengthening alliance with Moscow—especially in matters of national security—has delivered tangible outcomes.
In a subtle critique of former Western allies, notably avoiding direct reference to France, Goita remarked that Mali had severed connections with past partners and highlighted that “with Russia we [Mali] were able to arm ourselves.”
He further stated, “Cooperation with Russia is effective. It is without demagogy, without manipulation,” underscoring the forthright and results-driven nature of the alliance.
Goita additionally verified that his dialogue with Putin included prospects for broader engagement between Russia and the Alliance of Sahel States.
He revealed that the conversations concentrated on three main areas: diplomacy, defense, and development.
